February 14, 2024 | Town Hall Meeting Takeaways

The snow couldn’t stop you, our loyal, passionate, and dedicated supporters!  Thank you so much to all who attended our in-person Town Hall Meeting last night at the Woodbury Jewish Center, and the hundreds more who joined us virtually via the live stream and viewed it since.

If you couldn’t make it, you can catch up HERE

Takeaways:

  • The OLMA Preservation Coalition understands and accepts the decision to close in June.  We encourage everyone to take the necessary time to make their plans thoughtfully and proceed accordingly.

  • We presented several options for a sustainable and reimagined school to be a vital force in educating young women for the next 95 years - newly created and founded in the spirit of Catherine McCauley and the Sisters of Mercy Brooklyn, ideally on our beloved campus.

  • None of this can be achieved at the existing site without support from and collaboration with the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas (MESA) who own the land and facilities.

  • We remain at the ready present to and partner with MESA to explore any number of options they may be willing to entertain to buy or lease the existing facility for a reimagined school.

We are a Coalition - a collective team that has come together for a common goal.  As such, we always welcome your thoughts and feedback.  Stay with us - we’re not giving up and neither should you!

Mercy. Girls. Don’t. Quit.
